How a small decision can turn your life around

I, obviously, don't have a degree in writing, editing, or website design. What I DO have is a passion for something more- a craving for adventure, meeting people around the world, experiencing new food and cultures, and releasing this burning in me to help others. The only thing standing in my way is ME. Scared of failing, scared of rejection, scared of not being good enough. Questions that go through my head include 'Who would want to know my story?' 'What story do I have that can help?' 'Who do I think I am to offer advise?' All of my fears thus far have shown up as failure to act. But if we don't put ourselves out there, how are we going to succeed?

This website has been in the making for a very long time. I've started and deleted so many times I can't remember. I would get pumped up and get going and then never proceed, that publish button would never get touched. Then I'd have guilt. I could feel disappointment from myself for failing yet again. Why can't I ever succeed at anything I try? The simple answer is because I wouldn't follow through. However, it goes so much deeper than that. I have hurts and pains from childhood that I have't properly dealt with and until I do that, I won't be whole. We just can't carry baggage and expect to 100% show up in life. And so this is my journey to healing.

Writing is easier for me because I don't have anyone to please or impress. My thoughts can come and be put down on my own time, in my own way, with nobody telling me how to do it. This is my form of journaling. I am choosing to share my experience so that I can help others. In theory starting a blog is pretty simple, right? You find a free site and just start typing. That one small step though can lead to another small step, then another, and before long I'm going to be running and leaping. I am choosing freedom and confidence folks. One step at a time.
